would like to take this opportunity to welcome Jamaican
Veteran Hit-Maker Carl Malcolm and the Positive
Vibration Band to the Arious Family. We at the
Arious Entertainment Group will be the official
management company for the group.
may remember in the mid 70s Carl Malcolm's string of
hits "No Jestering" which was Number 1
on the Jamaican Top 10 Charts, staying on the charts for
17 weeks, and International Super Star Bette Midler
re-did it on her album called "Songs for New
Depression". His next big one was called
"Ms. Wire Waist"; and then came the BIG
HIT "Fatty Bum Bum" which was produced
by Randy's Records (now known as VP Records), it sold
over 3 million, made it to number 3 on the British
Charts, and was very popular around the world.
1980 Carl Malcolm formed the Positive Vibration
Band in the Washington DC area and they have become a
staple in the local Reggae Music scene in Washington DC
and surrounding areas. Additionally, they have had
the opportunity to tour around the world. Over the
years the Positive Vibration band has been made up of
many different combination of musicians. Many have
gone off and has done other things, some have formed
their own bands, but I think after 30 yeas they have
finally found the perfect group. In addition to
Carl, the group consist of his wife "Aneeta"
on Drums and vocals, their son "Tyrone"
on Keyboards (he is also a producer and sound engineer
and practically takes care of everything else), and
finally the last member is a close family friend "Maximus"
who is the rapper of the group (which brings an
interesting flavor to their sound.)
Saturday, October 3rd, 2009, Carl Malcolm and the
Positive Vibration celebrates 30 years together.
Come celebrate Carl and The Positive Vibration's major
accomplishment with all of us at Zanzibar
Reggae Superstar Maxi Priest, featuring Benniton - The
Menace, plus from Sierra Leone JR, along with
Carl. DJ Nemesis and Spyder The DJ will be
spinning some nice tunes and provided the vibes.
Tony Carr will be Master of Ceremonies. Tickets are
$25.00 in advance and $30.00 at the door.
is located at 700 Water Street, S.W. Washington DC, so

is an interesting article for all of the Michael Jackson
fans who are intrigued with my
sister's relationship with this King of Pop. This

is here, and if you know us then you must know how crucial
October is for us. Yes,
undeniably it's Miami Time, and it's only 1 week
away. Yup, one week before we get away from the
"daily grind" and constant stressing about
everything including our projects, business and careers.
we are breathlessly counting down the days before
heading to lovely Miami...the dazzling ocean, the
beautiful people, the fantastic weather, the delicious
drinks, and the constant "liming" all wrapped
up with the Caribbean Carnival. Oh, what an
incredible time we have every year.
remember the first time experiencing Miami Carnival, and
that was quite a few years ago - way...way back in the
late 80s. Gosh, what fun we had then! Being
as young as we were, despite us operating our own
business it was all about drinking and having fun during
every free moment we had, and Carnival time was no
different. I fondly recall hurriedly closing our
business for the weekend, running home to grab a few
change of clothes, stopping by the liquor store to
purchase our favorite drinks and driving the
approximately 250 miles to Miami for Carnival.
Hummm...how crazy we were then drinking and
driving...unbelievable! Carnival was only a few
yeas old then, and I vividly remember the few
bands, the costumes, the music, the entertainment, the
parties, and all the fun things we did around that
Carnival weekend! Without a doubt...it was enjoyable!
recent years some things have changed quite a bit about
Carnival for us, actually us maturing is the biggest
change. Although Carnival is still fun, we have
been taking time to relax more, enjoy the beaches and
sunsets, and just chill. Moreover, this year after
Carnival we decided to cruise out of Miami to Key West
and Cozumel Mexico for a few days. What a big
change for us...sometimes I think we are getting old
more days before this exciting Miami Carnival weekend
and for those who will be vacationing there for Carnival
please enjoy yourself and be safe.
the way, it is not late to make your reservations for
the After-Miami Carnival Cruise departing Miami on
October 12th, stopping in Key West Florida, as well as
Cozumel Mexico and returning to Miami on October
16th. Currently, this cruise is still quite
affordable, for an Interior Room the cost is $129.00;
for an Ocean View room it's $149.00; and for a Suite the
cost is $479.00. Of course, all your food is
included in this price. So I urge you to
hurry and take advantage of this great deal which is a
savings of approximately 80%. CLICK

Weekend I talked about having nothing to do lately
during the weekends, and of course I received a few
calls from associates who just called to say
"hey", and really didn't have anything to
share with us about what to do around town for
fun. Nonetheless, last weekend turned out to be
all began while Todd was organizing his Calendar last
Saturday morning, he remembered Syndicate Radio
host Michael Baisden (host of his own show The
Michael Baisden Show) announced he would be in town
for the Black Caucus. Additionally, he announced he would
be at Watkins Regional Park in Kettering Maryland
playing tennis with his listeners and fans. Since
Watkins Park is one of our favorite parks and has a very
special place in our hearts (due to it being the place
Todd and had spend every free moment together while
growing up); we decided to go to the park, and if we saw
Michael Baisden, then that would be cool.
completing our errands, we arrived at the park 2 hours
after Mr. Baisden was scheduled to be there, and we knew
he had already left. We however spent time walking
all through the park watching the kids play football, as
well as the cheerleaders - who were doing their thing hyping up
the crowd and cheering/supporting their team. We
then walked over the fields to the carousel, and got
lost in our memories. We reminisced as we walked
over the children's playground and smiled as we saw the
Children coming down the slides, climbing the structures
and flying high (moving back and forth) on the swings. We then strolled
over to the pony area and watched the little kids enjoy
their pony rides. Finally, we walked over to the
farm and was greeted by a beautiful sheep, who seemed to
be attracted to us and kept coming over to say hi.
Walking through the entire farm and checking out all the
animals were really fun and interesting; and it
certainly brought back some wonderful memories about our
young life growing up in Kettering/Largo. In
the next few days, please check my MyCaribbean Page for
pictures of this lovely day!
we were slowly walking back to
our car while chatting and chuckling about all our
"sneaking episodes" (within this park) during our early life
growing up in this Kettering/Largo area, a funny thing
happened. We ran into Mr. Baisden, who should have
been finished with his tennis matches and long gone
(after all, our exploration of the park had taken
several hours.) How Cool...huh - running into Mr.
Baisden after so many hours had passed? Of course,
I had to get a picture with Mr. Baisden (regardless how
I looked that morning.)
my opinion, Mr. Baisden seemed to be exactly as he sound
on the radio, extremely friendly, very outgoing and very
appreciative for his listeners, not to mention very
attractive.. Thank You Mr. Baisden for this
picture and for reaching out for a hug instead of my
must say even though Mr. Baisden's show has always been
interesting, over the years I have gained new respect
for him due to his role and exposure of the Jena 6 issue
some years ago. Additionally, in the past I
mentioned via our e-newsletter that I am happy to see
the exposure he is giving Reggae Star Beres Hammond
along with Mr. Hammond's lovely music. Thanks
Mr. Baisden for all you do!
week with lots of comments from you
