Greetings
On-Line Family:
I
can't believe there is only 11 more days left before Election
Day. Wow, what an interesting political year it has
been...hasn't it?
Well, the time is drawing very near to cast
our votes in the most important and historical election ever; and many of us are excited and looking forward to
it. Actually, some of you have taken advantage of
early voting, and have already cast your vote, which I'm so
happy to hear.
I understand there have been
a high number of these early voters who endured the long lines
and the lengthy wait in states that allow early voting across
the country; just to cast their vote. Yup, and they
succeeded in doing so, which is excellent! Consequently,
I strongly encourage
you to go ahead and vote early if your state allows it...just to
get it out of the way
before November 4th, so that you can fully enjoy this historical
election day doing something else other than standing in the
long lines many anticipate.
As I look at all the polls (National, State,
and Battleground states) Senator Barack Obama's numbers
are looking real good, because he is ahead in many states
according to these polls.
Gosh, I pray these polls are right. However, keep in
mind they are only polls, and for now we all must ignore them,
and MUST make sure we go out and vote. It is really very
important that we all vote for the change we want, and so
believe in.
General Colin Powell's
endorsement of Senator Obama was a bit humbling and left many
across America shocked. His important decision and his
extensive discussion on why he crossed party lines to support
Senator Obama was extremely powerful. I commend General
Powell for making such a courageous and intelligent decision!!
My nerves are extremely shot over this political
race; moreover, I am emotionally exhausted. One
important reason is due to the negativity that is taking place
on a daily basis regarding the disturbing attacks Senator McCain
and his running mate are launching on the Democratic
Presidential candidate (Senator Obama). Additionally, the
many "right wing" talk show hosts and the so-called
conservative talk show hosts are all coming up with some of the
most absurd things to "slam" Senator Obama.
Lately, it's so crazy that I have learn to just laugh because
they are extremely funny. My husband Todd, explained that
these "right wing" fanatics and those who call
themselves conservatives have a louder voice, and have more
places through the airwaves and internet to talk their rhetoric and spread their false and
insincere accusations.
It's really bizarre to see how
they all are soooo... in-sync with their rhetoric. What's
more fascinating, is how it seems that on a nightly basis an
e-mail or some sort of memo is distributed to each of them that
outlines the negative speaking points they are tasked with to utilize
for "lashing" out against Senator Obama during
their TV or radio shows. Furthermore, they appear to be
very mechanical, and every one of them are always saying the
same things - word for word. Sometimes, I don't even thing
they are listening to the things they are saying, but is just
repeating them. I believe if they were to listen to what
they say/repeat, then they would realize how illogical and
absurd they sound. It's really weird to listen throughout
the day to many of them and hear the same things being said, in
the same order, and with the same hatefulness.
Enough already with
this "Joe the plumber" statement from McCain, his
running mate and his surrogates, they have talked up this guy so
much that I recently heard he was fired from his Plumber Helper
job. Moreover, if you really think about it...how could
McCain and Palin talk about fighting for "Joe the
plumber" and they have spent so many thousands on clothing
for Palin using monies from the RNC. Senseless
huh? And they are trying to shout to us that they are for
the middle class and will help poor people. Middle class and poor
people can't conceive having, or even spending $150,000 on clothes. There
are too many more important things taking place in their lives
during these extremely difficult times that this kind of money
can be used to take care of.
Additionally, this socialist
accusation that is preached by the Republicans against Senator
Obama on a daily basis doesn't make much sense, especially if
you totally understand what a socialist is. I'm not quite
sure why they are continuously repeating these two statements and
"beating them to death", because intelligent and hard
working folks like many in America are dying for change and is
more interested in our everyday problems, the economy, the
financial crisis, losing our homes, losing our jobs, and not
being able to pay our bills. Hummm, as I talking about
"Joe the plumber" I wonder if someone could be so kind
enough to tell me what's wrong with spreading the wealth?
I don't get it...tell me exactly what is wrong with spreading the
wealth.
To our friends among
our on-line family who are a bit upset with me due to my talks
on a weekly basis about Senator Obama on our e-newsletter, I ask
you to please forgive me for upsetting some of you. I'm
glad you shared with me your disappointment, and your feelings
about me (as you stated) "not being ready, nor have the
courage to discuss or
talk about what's really going on...the truth." Remember though, this is
how I learn and grow and most importantly I'm glad that you have
been, and still is reading our e-newsletter.
Unfortunately, I have lost a few of you, but I'm glad you have
been honest with me. To all of you, regardless of who you
support in this political race; please let's agree to disagree
and not hold back with our thoughts. Feel free to
"chew me out", and most importantly go ahead and send
me your thoughts so we can discuss them. Please know that
I'm thrilled when I receive them and always do my utmost best to
respond to all of you. Maybe those who are upset with me
can start off by explaining to me exactly what Senator McCain is
saying, I'm just not hearing him address my problems and he
simply is not relating to me. Please kindly tell me what
I'm missing.
Remember
during these next few days it is important that we all stay
focus on the positive issues, and keep in our minds that the
many issues folks are coming up with in an attempt to attack is
absurd, and just another way to discredit Senator Obama and
distract us the people from the important issues.
Therefore, it is critical that we get out and vote so that we can obtain the change we so long for.

Due to this interesting
political year I have missed highlighting, observing and
discussing some important matters. However, it's not too
late to highlight and briefly talk about a few important issues
that are being observed this month.
October is Domestic
Violence Awareness Month and Breast Cancer Awareness
month.
As many of you may know I am
passionate about bringing awareness to Domestic Violence, so I
ask that you please check out the below video message from the
Director of the Department of Justice Office on Violence Against
Women. Director Cindy Dyer urges us to work together in an
effort to bring end to this violence. Please click on the
below picture of Ms. Dyer to launch her video message.

If
you are experiencing domestic abuse, or if you know of someone
who is experience domestic abuse, please do something to stop
it. I personally am very passionate about this problem,
because I have experienced family members and friends on
numerous occasions making excuses for the problem stating:
"it's nothing...he loves me and I love him", my answer
has always been: "if he loved you he wouldn't hit or abuse
you, and abusing someone is not a way for anyone to show their
love."
There
are many resources for you to reach out to for help, such as:
(1) battered women's shelters, (2) community-based
organizations, (3) activists within communities of color, (4)
faith-based groups, (5) government officials and even policy
makers, whom all have played a part in shaping our nation's
response to the violence. Intervention is very important,
so don't feel dreadful about intervening you might be saving a
life. Click on the following for help: Do

Devastating
Financial
Crisis
Still we have had
no good news about this financial crisis here in the United
States, as well as globally. The stock market is simply
not getting any better. It's been falling on a daily basis
during this entire week. Personally, it really worries me
because I received my quarterly 401K report recently and it
killed me to see how much of my retirement monies I have lost
due to this crisis. My heart goes out to the many folks
who are close to retirement, and have lost so much of their
retirement monies due to this devastating crisis. What's
going on?????
I also understand
approximately 81,000 homes are expected to be foreclosed upon in
November, and the unemployment rate are increasing, because big
companies are laying off many employees. As a matter of
fact, the Department of Labor recently disclosed approximately
478,000 people lost their jobs in September, and thousand have
filed for unemployment benefits. It's been reported Merck
has laid off 2,880 of its workers, Goldman Sachs laid off 3,260;
Yahoo has laid off 1,500 and Chrysler 825 people were laid
off. Many other companies such as GM and Ford continues
laying off many of their workers.
I pray that we
all are protected through this rough period!
