What's Happening  by Susan Mangatal

susan@ariousentertainment.com

Greetings to our on-line family:

Yes, this week I (Susan) come out of the side-lines and shadows to introduce myself to you our on-line family.   Normally, I'm not far away, always beside Todd helping and advising with his "What Happening" commentary for our Weekly E-mail.  Don't fair Todd will be back addressing you next week, he is busy preparing for the excitement this weekend.

Miami...Miami...Miami...It's all about Miami and it's Carnival/s this weekend.  We at Arious are absolutely looking forward to it.

If you recall last week Todd expressed his opinion about Miami's three (3) carnivals, but the great thing about this internet is that we are afforded the opportunity to express our views and opinions freely, and are able to hear other point of views.  As always we are assured to receive interesting feedbacks, which can be used to help us guide the growth of our culture, music, entertainment and even our lives.  This week we received a very thought provoking e-mail from one of our on-line family who resides in Miami, and she put a real great spin on the Miami Carnivals situation.  She indicated that we should not think of it as three (3) separate Carnivals, but think of it as the Carnival in Trinidad.  Such as Carnival in Tobago, Carnival in South, Carnival in Tunapuna, Carnival in Arima, etc., and as you know it's all celebrated simultaneously (at the same time), with the main event being held in Port of Spain.  Yes, this allows the culture to be exposed and expressed in different cities on a broader scale.  Just think...Carnival and Caribbean culture will be exposed to all of South Florida on Columbus Day weekend.  This could create major exposure and financial gains for Caribbean culture in general.  I believe she has a real good point.  Thanks Ms. Peters for sharing your view.  Also, we received kind words and nice comments from Ms. D'Arcy from Miami...Keep up the good work Ms. D'Arcy and we look forward to meeting you this weekend!

Well, we will definitely be hanging with the Jacksonville Carnival Crew on the road in Homestead as they present their portrayal "Birds of a Feather" with the great sounds of  In Da Mix Entertainment with our friend DJ Rajah Ranks from Orlando and the crew.  Early on Friday you will find us at the Panorama and King & Queen show in Hialeah Park, and we are scheduled to make many more stops before the night ends.  Saturday we have to squeeze in Coconut Grove (for the sites and a little shopping), and definitely South Beach for lunch and cocktails.  Saturday night we plan on attending a few parties, and later we will close out the night by chilling with friends at the yearly Carnival weekend Reggae jam/show.  Finally, on Sunday the parade, so stop by the truck and give us a shout, and we will close out the night at "Sundays at the Bay" (if it's happening this year). Monday...Orlando here we come to visit and hang out with friends.  Gil and Family we are looking forward to seeing you!  Big Shout out to Lady D and Martel on the "Caribbean Affair" Radio show and Caribbean One Stop in Orlando!!!!

Jumaane (Miami Beach) sorry you are stuck in Richmond and won't make it to your home for Carnival.  We'll hook up soon!  It's a pleasure having you as a member of our on-line family!

The following week if we are not worn out we will be in Jacksonville taking in Jacksonville Carnival.  Hope to see all of you there!

For those who are traveling to Miami, be very safe and enjoy Miami Carnival!  As for us, Todd will hit you up next week with the "haps" direct from Miami.

Let us know your opinion.  Hit up the message board under carnivals!

Please remember to log on to our message board - to add, read and respond to our many topics.  Let us know your thoughts on these topics, and what's happened in your town/area over the weekend.

"Peace Out" to all of you!
