On-Line Family and Friends: Special Greetings To All Of
Wow, lately in “these here parts”
the heavens have opened up, and it’s been some super
soaker days and nights. Lovely rain…rain and more torrential rain!
On more than one occasion I have
stated I absolutely love it when it rains.
However, these unbelievable amounts that have
been drenching and inundating our area is not so
of the soothing pitter-patter on my windowpanes, I hear
a steady loud wild tapping on the roof and windows.
Gosh, it is so distracting, but here I go with my
writing and "vibing" with you.
Before I move forward though, if you reside in
the North East of America as we do; please be vigilant
and very cautious of the flash flood warnings, as well
as the tornado warnings. It is reported that the amounts of rain will amount to almost
12 inches, so again be very careful.
The beginning of the week was
distressing because many of us were anxiously awaiting
the verdict of 4 time Grammy nominated Reggae Superstar “Buju Banton" [Mr.
Mark Anthony Myrie,] regarding his Federal case
with charges of “Conspiracy to possess and distribute cocaine
and aiding two others in possessing a firearm during the
course of cocaine distribution.” As many of you know the saga
continues for him due to his trial ending in a “hung
jury”, after 3 days of deliberation.
I understand his new trial will take place
sometime in December and his attorney Mr. David
Markus is making a bid for his client to be released
from prison as he waits for his new trial. He has
filed a motion for bail, which will be heard
on Wednesday, October 6th before District Judge Anthony
Porcelli in Sam M. Gibbons Courthouse in Tampa Florida.
HIS LIFE IS STILL IN TURMOIL!!!
I stated last
week in my commentary that I have mix feelings about
this unfortunate situation "Buju B" has
placed himself in, and I wonder how could he have gotten
himself in this bizarre situation. Because "Buju
B" is a smart individual, who knows
better and is a major artist/figure in the
Caribbean/Reggae Music Industry.
Undeniably, I am truly very fond of
"Buju Banton" and have accumulated
quite a few nice memories regarding his transition to
stardom throughout the years. I have never been a
“groupie” nor have I ever had a “groupie”
mentality, but It was awesome experiencing [first
hand] the frenzy in Jamaica as he released his first
few hit singles; and most importantly, seeing him
perform his biggest hit tune at that time “Love Me
Browning”, (along with other hits) at the Holiday
Inn, Montego Bay JA.
Checking him out on countless occasions while our
friends brought him into town (Orlando, FL.) to perform
for large audiences (while promoting his album "Voices
of Jamaica". ) Traveling
to Atlanta after obtaining special tickets to see him
perform there. Dealing with him in Baltimore, MD. as the current Carnival
Committee brought him into town while he promoted his
"Til Shiloh" Album. And in recent
years having had the special opportunity to witness his
fantastic performances pretty up close and personal as
he sang his hits from his popular albums "Unchained
for Life"; "Too
Bad"; and "Rasta
Yup, I can go on and on, but simply do not have
the time to write about all of them in detail.
Generally speaking though; witnessing his growth
and progress, as he became one of Jamaica’s most
successful Reggae stars as well as a role model was
So when I say I am angry and
dreadfully disappointed with "Buju B", it’s not just coming from someone
who is unfamiliar with him; but from someone who has
watched him grow, listen to his profound lyrics and
music; and someone who admired him and is extremely
proud of his accomplishments.
I have read thousands of comments
from his fans saying that he was framed [“SET UP”,]
and who are blatantly dismissing the actual facts of his
charges. "Buju B" set up? Nahhh, he is too smart for that.
Gosh, “on the real” "Buju B" should have never put himself in a
position to be set up.
Moreover, he should have never been involved in
that sort of unpleasant illegal business.
Why…Why…Why??? He absolutely doesn’t need too, because he has been in a
great position most of his life.
All of this man’s concerts are “Sell Offs,”
and how many Reggae artists out here today we can look
at and say ~~~ "they
are extremely blessed"~~~ due to the
fact that their concerts are always SOLD OUT.
Clearly money is something he could/would easily be able
to put his hands on without having to be caught up in
this stupid illegal cocaine business.
I took the time to read one of the
transcripts of his conversations with the Government
Informant and his accomplices [a
series of conversations via telephone and at meetings in
and I am not pleased at all.
Such damning evidence, and truly very
this is not the "Buju B" I thought I knew, and I feel a bit
FACT, THIS IS ABSOLUTELY NOT THE "BUJU B" I PERCEIVED
HIM TO BE!!!!

Petersburg Times/Tampa Bay Tribune.)
In closing, I am darn mad with
him and I personally will settle on saying “we all
are human beings, and we all make mistakes”.
He made an awfully bad mistake!!!
I will continue keeping "Buju B"
in my prayers, because he is such a great talent, and
ultimately I want to see him move forward in his life
~~~ being successful as he has been in the music
Let me know your thoughts after you
have taken this opportunity to
read the transcript,
and please kindly keep "Buju
B" in your prayers especially during this grave
and solemn time of tribulation. Most importantly,
go out and purchase his new album which was released
earlier this week "Before The Darn."
“Puppy Love” is fun … tantalizing,
intriguing and hilarious … Oliver at his best and
so is Dahlia Harris, one of the best actresses on
the Jamaican stage. Magnificent directing and set
design by Trevor Nairne; brilliant writing by
playwright Patrick Brown. Although
it is a comedy, there are elements of seriousness
which explore friendships, love and family
Us wake up in the morning
our Hearts filled up with joy.
us thank the Mother/ Father
the favors we enjoy.
us give thanks to the Universe
all good that Life extends
we seek sincere forgiveness
those acts which could offend.
as the sun breaks the horizon,
fleeing from the Light,
us lift up our consciousness
the realms of spiritual sight.
us be the truths we repeat,
we model change we seek;
us understand compassion,
not be confused by the meek.
us revel in the abundance
a Universal Power,
supplies all that we need
minute , every hour.
us understand right now
One Life sustains us all;
the whole reverberates
a lowly creatures fall.
we can only look beyond the material,
wonderful connections we would discover.
Peace, and Love from the Heart!
