Greetings to my on Line Family: As
many of you may have noticed lots of things are starting to
happen here at Arious Entertainment. In an effort to
continue to inform, entertain and expose culture and talent we
have added Arious
TV which is currently in it's infancy, you will see the
growth over the next few months.
We started Arious
TV like everything else, it was not really planned - it just
happened, I guess it was a natural progression. For the
last 4 years we have been delivering our "What's
Happening" e-mail to you complete with events listings,
along with our weekly commentary which focuses on the community,
the problems in our community, the people in our community and
events and culture. Now with Arious TV, not only can you
read about these exciting events and information, you will be
able to see and hear about it right on your own
computer.
Over the last 4 years I've witnessed
a tremendous growth in the amount of people that utilized the
Internet for information and entertainment. We are trying
our best to stay up to date with all the Internet has to
offer. Just like when the movie industry started over 100
years ago, it started with short clips called
"Shorts", so we are following in that tradition.
Soon we will have streaming videos 24 hours a day and many
different channels filled with exciting programming. You
will be able to watch this growth and maybe even be a part of
it.
Currently, we have featured clips of
some of the events we have attended over the last few months
starting with the DC Caribbean Carnival, the Miami Carnival, the
International Caribbean Music festival which took place during
the weekend of Miami Carnival and which is one of my favorite
clips, because many of you may have gathered my passion is
Caribbean music, and this event certainly featured many of the
Reggae and Soca artists that are currently "blowing
up". We also have
music videos of some of my favorite groups in DC and of course a
Tupac video featuring my sister Shana Mangatal. We also have
weekly highlights of the Capital Star Competition taking place
in the Nation's Capital (the first 2 weeks can be seen).
I am very excited about Arious TV
and the communications it will provide for all. Also, in
an effort to stay current and communicate with you our on-line
family I have finally created my own MySpace page. www.myspace.com/ariousentertainment
. I had seen a lot of MySpace pages, and I have also heard
some negative things about it in the media, but like anything
new it will be abused. However, after reviewing the
MySpace site, I realized it really is a great way to network and
communicate with people all around the world with the same
interest as you. Those who have a MySpace page, I invite
you to check out mine, become a friend and you will be able to
post messages and comments on my site. We also intend to
place our weekly e-mail on the blog section of our MySpace Page,
so if for some reason you don't receive these weekly e-mails you
can also check the MySpace page for the latest, in addition to
our regular company site www.ariousentertainment.us.
Our Arious TV Video Clips will also be on the Video section of
our MySpace site.
Well, I look forward to meeting and
learning about many of you through MySpace. If you don't
have a MySpace page, check it out www.myspace.com
and sign up for your own piece of cyber space...currently it's
absolutely free. To those who have become my friend through
MySpace thank you for the link!!!!
For the last 3 weeks I have been
very consumed and getting very excited about the Capital Star
Competition, which we have been attending on Tuesdays.
Susan has been one of the judges for the last 3 weeks and I'm
really glad she is the judge and not me, because I don't know
how I would be able to choose from all the exciting talent I've
been exposed to in the Washington Area. I've witnessed
over 30 performers so far and they all have been great!!!!
So I am really looking forward to the next 7 weeks. when
Toni Samuel and her husband Stephen presented their idea for
this competition to us, I was excited about it, but I couldn't
comprehend just how exciting it would get. This is one of
the best talent experiences I've had in a long...long
time. They encouraged us to assist them with this great
endeavor and we agreed, and it has been a wonderful
decision. I really see big things for the competition and
the acts. I'm sure we at Arious along with One Heart
Charities, Inc. will be bringing this competition to your town
in the very near future. If you would like to take part in
the Capital Star Competition, please scrolls down below for all
the details.
The first 3 weeks of the competition
took place at Zanzibar on the Waterfront and one thing I've
noticed (which is a good thing), the amount of attendees has
grown, now in an effort to expose the event to more people in
the metropolitan area the event is moving to Northern Virginia
for the next 3 weeks. Every Tuesday beginning this Tuesday
(November 7th) we will be at Oasis on the Occoquan in Woodbridge
Virginia. This is another great location on the
Waterfront, just like Zanzibar. So I hope to see many of
you who enjoy great talent, or who would like to expose your
talent at this event. Check out the Video Clip of the
First 2 weeks of competition currently playing on Arious
TV, and the 3rd week of competition will be on Arious TV by
Monday, November 6th. So log on and Check it out.
If anyone needs a live band for
their event or Holiday Party, check Sam'O and he JFC Band.
They do a wide variety of tunes from oldies to current hits with
a Caribbean flavor. Check out Sam'O's video clip on Arious
TV and please contact us if you like what you see with the
details of your event at ariousentertainment@earthlink.net.
Oh, I almost forgot this Saturday my
good friend Kenley John of Shortmus Productions will be
launching a new CD he has produced for his artist Patrick
Glory, so he is having a big party to celebrate and showcase
his new find. I'm looking forward to it. I've had
the opportunity to hear parts of the CD which was quite
good. I've agreed to take a few video clips for Patrick's
upcoming music video, so if you are in the Hyattsville area and
would like to hear some reggae music or just be a part of the
video, come on by. It's a relaxed atmosphere, so you know
it will be a party. Check below for the details on this
event or on our "Event's
Page".
Thanks for the Support and Stay Tune!!!!

Highlights
of One Heart Charities Capital Star Search Talent
Competition
by Susan Mangatal
The Capital
Star Search Talent Competition was a big hit again for it’s
third week - it's definitely getting better and better!!!!
I’m not
sure how/where Ms. Samuel (owner of One Heart Charities, Inc.) get a hold
of these talented folks...they all are so great. This week
it was nice to have among our guests, representatives from
"Showtime at the Apollo" scouting for new talent.
The
competition itself blew me away this week, because of its
diversity, but before
I talk about this week’s diverse talent, let me highlight the
winners, that Mr. Aubry McKitchen (President of Events
Unlimited, Inc.), Mr. J. R. Fenwick (Guitarist, Writer,
Producer, Author of an Audio book) and myself selected
this week. Actually
we had somewhat of a difficult time judging these talented folks
and after calculating our scores we came up with a tie for 1st
place. However, breaking the tie was not difficult,
because the 1st place winner we chose Mr. Joe Chapter made it
quite easy for us to make our decision.
This young man sang John Legend’s hit song “ So
High” and did a great job.
Oh yes, I do love everything John Legend does, but for a
moment there I forgot all about John, and it was all about Joe.
There were no flaws in his performance, he just sang
beautifully, and indeed had me flying high with his smooth and
cool demeanor.
Yes, he can definitely be a Star.
I look forward to his upcoming CD.

out the winners bio below

2nd
Place Winner - Cheryl
Gilbreath Performed
Whitney Houston's "I Will Always Love You"
Born
and raised in Southern CA, Cheryl Gilbreath has been
singing since she was a child. Her versatile soprano
vocals can accommodate just about any musical genre from
Sacred and Classical to R&B and Jazz. Cheryl
welcomes any invitation and every challenge to grow
spiritually and musically. While at Howard
University, Cheryl's voice has developed over the years
while singing 1st soprano soloist in the original Howard
Gospel Choir, and currently the Rankin Memorial Chapel
Choir with esteemed music director Arphelius Paul Gatling,
III. Cheryl is noted as the "Pure
Voice" of Oxnard, CA, attributing her many
outstanding community performances. Her professional
background is increasingly developing with various
experiences including performing Harlem Blues for Spike
Lee at Howard University, and singing Lift Every Voice and
Sing at Howard's Homecoming Step Show with an audience of
over 6000. Cheryl has also performed for audiences
including President William Clinton and Ms. Jessye Norman
at the John F. Kennedy Center in Washington DC.
Cheryl aims to continue performing for a wide variety of
audiences. "I want to share my gift with anyone
and everyone who can listen, and I believe that singing
just one genre of music would be limiting. As long
as the message is positive, I will definitely give my
all."

3rd
Place Winner - Kenneth
Scott Performed
Anthony Hamilton's "Charlene"
Kenneth
Brooks has been singing since he was 3 years old.
His talent was nurtured by his grandfather, who also was
a singer in a gospel quartet. Kenneth has
performed around the USA with various groups and as a
solo artist, in a variety of venues, including the House
of Blues in Louisiana. His soulful first tenor
voice is reminiscent of his influences, which include
Donnie Hathaway, Stevie Wonder and Marvin Gaye.

Let me elaborate further on the
diverse talent I mentioned above.
A Reggaeton Hip hop duo called “Bendicion” and
“Miky Bad Boy”
performed a rap selection in Spanish and English, they
were very energetic and exciting and they reminded me of the hit
Reggaeton tunes being played on the local Latin radio station,
and around the country on stations in Los Angeles, Arizona and
Miami.
The 2nd Diverse
performer was Mr. Bobby Hall who was certainly in the Halloween
spirit, he delivered his rendition of Purple Rain in a Spider
Man outfit, which was pretty interesting.
All the other acts were just outstanding but I especially
enjoyed 2 male vocalists Mr. Darryl Johnson and Mr. Chris
Pearson (Chris did Michael Jackson's “Lady of my life”
acapella.) Both were outstanding, and it's
unfortunate we just had to choose the 1st, 2nd
and 3rd winners.
Please make it a date and come
check out the wonderful talent here in Washington DC/Maryland
and Virginia for the next 7 weeks.
As Todd informed you above, this week and for the
following 2 weeks One Heart Charities will be hosting their
Talent Contest in Virginia at Oasis on the Occoquan.
Anyone who think they can be the next
capital star contact Toni Samuel for all the details
