Greetings On-Line Family
Hope all of you had a
wonderful week and is looking forward to this weekend as we
are. Nothing really is taking place except for Soca Star
Machal Montano's big concert at Madison Square Garden in New
York City tomorrow along with Collie Buddz and Shaggy (who was
recently added). I know the first show was sold out,
but not sure if the 2nd is. How exciting to know the first
show was sold out...Good going Machel!!!! Happy 25th
Anniversary from all of us here at Arious Entertainment.
We are so very pleased with
your response to our Fashion Corporate partners for both ladies
and gentlemen, as well as gifts.
Most importantly we are happy to be able to create a safe portal to
on-line shopping for all your entertainment, travel, and
personal needs. Please continue utilizing/using and
supporting all that we offer through our
partners.
This past week we also spent
some time on re-designing our "Arious
TV", so check it out. We still have a few things
to add, but it is a bit more user friendly.
Normally we receive lots of
correspondence from many on our on-line family, but this week we
received one that we felt we needed to share with you.
Many of you may have already received this through the
forwarding by your friends, etc., so if you have and you have
read it, then you know this is one that must be shared and
passed on. The message is (1) inspirational, (2) truly has
meaning, (3) really is what Todd and I are very concerned
about and (4) what Todd constantly talks and "preaches
about".
To Mr. Diallo Sumbry, thanks for
passing it on,..it is truly "deep"
Please read and send you
thoughts to us at ariousentertainment@earthlink.net.
PULL
UP YOUR PANTS
"A friend of mine
came to my dorm room just to chat while her laundry was drying.
As we were chatting, two young freshmen came by. One of the boys
wanted to "talk" to my friend (as in date). She asked
him how old they were, and both of the boys replied 18. My
friend and I both laughed hysterically because we are both 22
years old. After my friend left, the young men were still
hanging around and one wanted to know how he could gain her
interest.
The
first thing I told him to do was to pull up his pants. He asked
why, then said he like 'saggin'
his pants. I told him to come over to my computer and spell the
word 'saggin'. Then
I told him to write the word 'saggin' backwards.
S-A-G-G-I-N
N-I-G-G-A-S
I
told him the origin of that look was from prison. The
reason their pants looked like that was because they were not
allowed to have belts because prisoners were likely to try to
commit suicide. And also if their pants were 'saggin' under
their butts that meant the man is available for sex!!!!
We
as young black people have to be the ones to effect change. We
are dying. The media has made a mockery of the Black American.
Even our brothers and sisters from
Africa
don't take us seriously.
Something
as simple as pulling up your pants and standing with your head
high could make the biggest difference in the world’s
perception of us. It is time to do right by ourselves. We need
to love and embrace each other. No one is going to do it for us.
It
all comes down to perception. What people perceive is what
reality to them is. We have to change not only the media's
perception of us, but we need to change our perception of
ourselves. Remember all eyes are on you
Black
Man.
All eyes are on you Black Woman. All eyes are on you Black
Child. People are waiting for us to mess up. We have let not
only the media, but the government and the world taint the pure
essence of us. They have stripped our culture down to the
point where we only believe we can become rappers and athletes.
We are so much more.
To
all my Black men:
Its
time to stand up. There are billions of Black Women who want to
do nothing more than worship the ground that you walk on. We are
so in love with your potential. We want to have your back, we
want to love, support and cherish every ounce of your being. But
with that you have to show that you are willing to be the head
of our households. You have to prove yourselves worthy of our
submission. We need you to be hard working...Not a hustler. We
need you to seek higher education, to seek spirituality. We need
you to stand! And trust us; we will have your back. We know that
it gets hard, we know you get weary. Trust and believe that
there is nothing that a Black Woman and a Black Man can't handle
with God on their sides.
To
all my Black Women:
It
is also time for us to stand up. It is time for us to stop using
our bodies as our primary form of communication. It is time to
be that virtuous woman that Proverbs spoke of. We can not sit by
the wayside while our men are dying by the masses. We are the
epitome of Black Love. It starts within us. We need to speak
with conviction to let not only our Black Men know, but the
world knows that we are the Mothers of this world. We are so
powerful. We are so beautiful. We need to love and embrace every
blessing God has given us physically, emotionally and
spiritually.
For
all My Black Children:
We
need to love them. We need to teach t hem. W e need to stand up
for them. We need to protect them. We need to show them that
there are no "get rich quick" schemes. We need to tell
them that they WILL die trying if they submit to a life of crime
and deceit. We need to teach our children that no one will love
them the way we can. And being a basketball player, a rapper, or
a drug dealer is not reality. It's not realistic and only
a small percentage of people ever make it as a rapper or
professional athlete. We need to teach our children that we can
be more than rappers and athletes. We can be the owners of these
sports teams; we can be the CEO's of our fortune 500 companies.
We need to believe in literacy. I am almost certain if we
were to look back to the 1930's and 40's, the literacy rates for
Black American Children are probably still the same.
Ok...I
am stepping off of my soap box now. Pull Up Your
Pants!!

Rev.
Dr. Iyanla
Vanzant - Best-selling Author, Spiritual Teacher, Minister, Public
Speaker.
Rev. Dr. Iyanla Vanzant is an
inspiration to many. However, Dr. Vanzant's early life
experiences were difficult - from being a victim of an abusive
marriage, postpartum depression, confinement in a psychiatric ward
and full of self-doubt, Dr. Vanzant's experiences gave her profound
insight into her life!! She has transformed herself into one
of the nation's most powerful public speakers, author of 11
best-selling books, five of which made it to the New York Times
best-seller list, and founder/Executive Director of her company
"Inner Vision Spiritual Life and Maintenance Network
Center" - a national personal-growth institute, that trains
holistic practitioners to fulfill the mission of empowering all
individuals, and most importantly she focuses on helping women lift
themselves from challenging circumstances.
After Dr. Vanzant left her abusive husband, she
enrolled and began attending
Medgar Evers College and City University of New York law school,
where she put herself through law school. She then
moved to Philadelphia with her children and at the age of 35 she practiced as a public
defender for three years. She later became an ordained minister,
committed to a message based on the principles of divine power and
self-determination.
Dr. Vanzant has received numerous awards and accolades for her work.
In 1992, Los Angeles Mayor Thomas Bradley named October 21st
"Tapping the Power Within Day" in honor of Vanzant and a
workshop she presented in the city for African-American women. In
1994, Vanzant was named "Alumni of the Year" by the
National Association for Equal Opportunity in Education, an
organization comprised of the presidents and administrators of the
117 predominantly Black colleges in the United States. She was also
awarded an "Oni" by the International Congress of Black
Women as one of the nation's unsung heroes. She served as
a national spokesperson for Literacy Volunteers of America in 1998.
In 1999 she was listed among the 100 Most
Influential African-Americans by Ebony magazine. Later that
year, she was awarded the 31st NAACP Image Award for
"Outstanding Literary Work, Non-Fiction" for Yesterday
I Cried. She also earned her first Honorary Doctorate degree,
Doctor of Humane Letters, from the City University of New York,
Medgar Evars College. In 2000, she earned her second honorary
degree, Doctor of Divinity, from the Theological Seminary in
Atlanta, Georgia. In addition, Ebony has named her one of
their "55 Most Intriguing People," Vibe magazine
tabbed her one of "100 Leaders of the New Millennium" and Newsweek
included her as one of the "Women of the New
Century."
Dr. Vanzant's popularity grew from her regular
appearances on The Oprah Winfrey Show from 1998 to 1999, which
brought her to national acclaim and resulted in her own nationally syndicated
daytime talk show in 2001 "The Road To Iyanla",
that was produced by acclaimed journalist and producer Barbara
Walters (Executive producer), and partner Bill Geddie, and
distributed and developed by Buena Vista Productions. Barbara
Walters recognized Vanzant's extraordinary appeal, seeing in her a
"breakaway talent" with the potential for huge success in
daytime television. Dr. Vanzant's most recent syndicated show
was called "Starting Over" a daytime reality show from the
creators of "The Real World", which follows six women who
came from all walks of life to overcome issues that have held them
back from leading a fulfilling life. Dr. Vanzant and Rhoda
Britten lead the women in exercises and assignments. This show
premiered in 2003 and last aired in May of 2006.
Dr. Vanzant, hailed as among the
"most dynamic African-American speakers in the
country" by Emerge magazine, is a nationally
recognized inspirational speaker devoted to showing others the
way to transform their lives. A best-selling author, her books
include Tapping the Power Within, Acts of Faith (the 1994
BlackBoard Book of the Year), The Value in the Valley the
1995 BlackBoard Book of the Year), Faith in the Valley
(the 1996 BlackBoard Book of the Year), and two new guides to
self-awareness and spiritual fulfillment: In the Meantime:
Finding Yourself and the Love You Want (Simon & Schuster
Hardcover) and One Day My Soul Just Opened Up: 40 Days
and 40 Nights Toward Spiritual Strength Fireside Books/A
Simon & Schuster Trade Paperback Original)
Dr. Vanzant is certainly a woman whose passion
for personal development has transformed many. She says: "I
know who I am" and I'm clear about my purpose. I am just
an ordinary person committed to doing extraordinary things".
and "My greatest desire is for people to know who they are from
the inside out and to use that knowledge as a tool of empowerment
and love". Dr. Vanzant is the mother of three and grandmother, Vanzant lives in
Silver Spring, Maryland, with her husband, Adeyemi. Her
Institute is also located in Silver Spring, Maryland.

This Saturday in Miami
March 24, 2007
“Champion
of the 2007 Caribbean Cup, the National Team of Haiti gets ready
for an international “A” friendly soccer game with Vice
Champion of the 2007 UNCAF, the National Team of Panama.”
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
The upcoming match scheduled for March 24, 2007 at 7:00PM in the Orange Bowl Stadium, is the first
appearance for Haiti since winning the Caribbean Cup in Trinidad
on January 24, 2007. According to fifa.com, the win – a great
upset of the formbook – was celebrated long into the night back
in Port-au-Prince, and also by the pitch by the Haitian players in
the Trinidadian capital. Team Haiti’s outstanding performance during this
championship allowed them to be qualified for the CONCACAF Gold
Cup in June 2007.
Team Panama, Vice Champion of the 2007 UNCAF
will also participate at this summer’s CONCACAF Gold Cup. The
Haiti-Panama game will be a great opportunity for both team
members to strengthen their skills and practice for the upcoming
June’s Gold Cup.
The Caribbean Champions have a busy and
challenging year ahead of them.
In May, they will play another international “A”
friendly game in Miami, FL. In
June, the proud and hard working champs will face the top teams of
the Caribbean and Central America in the USA for the Gold Cup.
The scheduled September 8th Haiti-Costa Rica
game will mark the first meeting of the 2007 Caribbean Cup
Champions vs. the 2007 UNCAF Champions.
With a newly dose of confidence acquired from
winning the 2007 Caribbean Cup Title, and with their ever hunger
for success we have no doubt that
team Haiti will one more come out victorious at the 2007
CONCAFAF, and further down the road find themselves playing
against the best at the 2010 FIFA World Cup in Africa.
Tickets are on sale at Maxi Sounds.
Groups of 20 or more can purchase discounted tickets if
reserved in advance. For more information, please call
