Greetings On-Line Family

It's been a while since I have vibed with you, and I certainly miss it!!!  Thanks to many of you for still inquiring about Part 2 of "My Caribbean Story", even my Mom have been asking when I will continue sharing it with her and everyone.  I will in the next week or so...keep hanging in there for that!!!

Over the Carnival weekend I didn't volunteer my services to my wife Susan (DCCC Vending Coordinator) to help with her vending project as I do every year, so I spent my time as a spectator and was able to captured some great footage of the parade, concert and all the happenings on the street "The sight and sounds of DC Carnival".  In the last 9 years I have not had the opportunity to really see and enjoy DC Carnival from a spectators point-of-view because for a number of years we have had a band/float in the parade, and once Susan had become a part of the DC Carnival board, I decided to assist her with her projects on the weekend of Carnival.  Actually, Susan had everything under control and was extremely organized (which was great), and as you know organization is the major key to pulling of an event of this magnitude.  I must congratulate her though, and give her some "big props", because the last 5 years she has taken the vending area from complete chaos to an organized, professionally run operation.  I will tell you more about this in Part 2 of "My Caribbean Story".

One thing I discovered, was DC Carnival and all of the band leaders and masqueraders did a great job in exposing the culture of the Caribbean and even the culture of Africa.  it was a very diverse festival this year.  It's certainly what I envisioned Carnival in DC should be.  As you will see in this special DVD, I captured and condensed 2 weeks of events, starting with the Pan Jam, DiManche Gras (judging of the costumes), the colorful masquerade bands in the parade, and some of the entertainers.  Actually you will have an opportunity to see what DC Carnival is all about, from what I saw and heard (my point-of-view.)

Many of you on our on-line family who has heard me talk about this Carnival, and who has not had an opportunity to attend this event, will now be able to see it, feel it, hear it, and enjoy it, as we all do.  If you were at DC Carnival, you might even be able to see yourself on the DVD.

This DVD is a great keepsake and you should get a copy.   The DVD's release date is July 20, 2006, but we are taking pre-orders at a special rate at $15.00 until the release date (including shipping and handling).  To order scroll down the page to purchase your copy via paypal or send your money order to Arious Entertainment, P.O. Box 1568, Glen Burnie, Maryland 21060.

Hey folks, Carnival comes to Baltimore this weekend (the new home of Arious Entertainment)!  It seems the Carnival Committee have a lot of exciting cultural and entertaining events planned for this weekend starting on Friday after work, and the parade will take place on Saturday kicking off at 1:00 pm (Scroll down for all the details.)  So check this out, it's normally a lot of fun.!!!! This festival takes place in Druid Hill Park, which is a great park that has a real nice setting with lots of trees surrounding the festival area.  Come out and enjoy the culture of the Caribbean in Maryland.  We plan to attend as we always do, so you must know we are looking forward to it.  It you see us, please stop and say hello, we'll be the couple "stuffing our faces" (we plan on going on an eating spree).

Big up to Elaine Simon and her Carnival Committee, keep up the good work!!!!!

Until Next Week, and have a safe and wonderful weekend!!!

The luncheon is planned because the occurrence of several

hurricanes and floods, which have ravaged the island of Jamaica, has

resulted in reduction of the operating funds for the Foundation

and other similar organizations.  This reduction of financial

resources adversely affects the ability of the Foundation to

carry out its vision to equip and empower the Inner City Youth

with Education and Skills Training.  As the island has not fully

recovered from the damages of hurricane and floods and is

already in another hurricane season, the need for financial

assistance is increased.

Helping Hands for the Poor Inc- a non-profit corporation, was established in USA to support the St. Patrick’s Foundation in Jamaica.

St. Patrick’s Foundation operates the following:

·         The St. Patrick’s Human Resource Centre (Waterhouse)

·         The St. Margaret’s Human Resource Centre(Olympic Gardens)

·         The St. Monica’s Home for the abandoned elderly (White Marl)

·         The Riverton City Human Resource Centre

·         Christ the Redeemer Human  Resource Centre (Seaview Gardens)

Specific services offered by the Foundation include:

♦ Personal human resource development

♦ Education (remedial, primary, secondary)

♦ Day care for the elderly

♦ Health clinics

♦ Skills training --Baking, sewing, tailoring and woodwork

The Foundation has developed community outreach programs

that include job placement (in one year about

500 inner-city youths were placed in jobs) and Focus Groups

(seminars, workshops, discussion groups on AIDS, family life, drug

abuse, health and police community relationships). An education fund

was established to ensure quality education for the youths of the

communities.  Through this Fund, school fees, lunch, transportation,

and scholarships are provided to qualifying students.

The Founder of St. Patrick’s Foundation, The Rt. Rev. Monsignor Richard Albert, was born in Bronx,

 New York, USA. He recently celebrated 30 years in the ministry;

twenty-eight of these years were spent in Jamaica. Earlier in his

ministry he was assigned to the Stella Maris Catholic Church in

Shortwood, St. Andrew.  Recently he was elevated to the position of

Vicar of the parish of St. Catherine.

Press Release

July 6th 2006

The family of legend Sammy Davis Jr . has chosen the Bollywood Fashion Awards to be the platform for the special “Sammy Davis Jr . Award . ”   Sammy Davis Jr . 1 often described as "the world's greatest entertainer” also epitomized the symbiotic relationship between entertainment and fashion which, fittingly, is the mantra of the Bollywood Fashion Awards .

Throughout his career, Sammy Davis Jr . was the quintessential multi-talented performer .   His popularity soared whether he was singing, dancing or impersonating .   His career credits include forty albums and innumerable television and film appearances .   He exemplified style and elegance with his trademark moves and looks .

As a member of the world-famous Rat Pack, a group of Sinatra associates, Sammy’s style was trend-setting .    He was a lead in the first Rat Pack film, Oceans Eleven, which continues to be remade today as one of the most stylish and iconic films .   One of his most popular chart-busters was “The Candy Man” from the film Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory .   Style and entertainment went hand-in-hand for Davis Jr .

“The Bollywood Awards have always sought to bring Indian movies, fashion and entertainment into the mainstream, transcending national borders .   Similarly, Sammy Davis Jr . was a pioneer in entertainment; he was popular on both sides of the racial divide,” said Chairman of the Bollywood Awards, Kamal Dandona, a self-confessed Sammy David Jr . fan .   His excitement is evident, especially because, the Bollywood Awards has achieved another “first . ”  It was the first South Asian Awards ceremony  to have an international celebrity participate in the festivities .   Michael Jackson attended the inaugural ceremony of the Bollywood Awards in 1999 and now, the Bollywood Awards, is the first to have an Honorary Award instituted by the family of an American legend, an honor indeed .

The Sammy Davis Jr . Award honoree is being kept a secret by show organizers at this time .   It will be a surprise and announced at the Awards on July 29th .   Major celebrities like Tyra Banks, Jerry Hall, Steven Seagal, Jean-Claude Van Damme, Nikki Hilton, and many others have donned Indian outfits and finery at past Fashion Awards .   This year will be no exception .   The Bollywood Fashion Awards 2006 will be the 6th annual gala event of international stature honoring the outstanding achievements of Indian fashion designers during the prior year . Unlike any fashion awards of its kind, the event will bring together the top international designers, most ravishing models, and the hottest celebrities together to honor the colliding worlds of fashion and entertainment . The Awards will be held at the world-famous Roseland Ballroom .   For over 75 years, the Roseland Ballroon has hosted concerts and fashion shows for the likes of for Madonna and Versace respectively .
