This week I am just getting back in the swing of things, and so I just want to update you on what is taking place locally this weekend.  I know there are a few, but an important one in particular is a # One Caribbean play “Sweet in Goat’s Mouth”, presented by Everybody’s Magazine and The Heritage Theatre Company of Grenada written by Chris DeRiggs.  The cast of this family, dramatic comedy (Wayne Bubb, Sarona Abraham, DeLeon Walters, Lisa Grappy,  Gregory Cato, Robert Whyte and Jean Kelly White) are from Grenada, Guyana and Jamaica, and I understand they are both talented and superb.  This takes place on Sunday, September 25th at the University of District of Columbia (UDC Auditorium), 4200 Connecticut Avenue, WDC.  I understand this play is very good, and has thrilled audiences across the Caribbean from Grenada and St. Vincent to Barbados and Trinidad  Tobago, so you have to check it out.  See flyer below.  For ticket outlets click here to enter our "Events" page for the details.  Also you can call Mike Malcolm 240-462-5843 or the Grenadian Embassy 202-265-2561 for any additional details you may need.

DJ Wayne informed me that Paramont Crew will be present “Summer Cool Down” this Saturday, (Sept. 24th).  DJ Wayne will be spinning the tunes, and this event will take place at 3004 Kaverton Road, Forestville, Maryland 20747, from 10pm to Sunrise.  Click here for more details and for the cover charge.  Remember bring your own drink and they will supply free food.

Lady Saw will also be in town on Saturday (Sept. 24th) performing at Crossroads.  Finally,  “De Four of Us Productions” is presenting “Soca on the River” featuring Calypsonian Lord Nelson direct from Trinidad.  This event takes place at Zanzibar on Sunday, September 25th.  Check our "Events" Page for additional details!  We were just informed today by Suzy Q about another one of her "Under the Moonlight Evening Under The Stars, but this time it's not at her home, it's at a new location - Dr. Acklyn Lynch' house, located at 1331 Geranium Street, N.W., WDC.  This takes place this Sunday, September 25, 2005 from 2pm until 7pm.  See our "September Events" Page for performances, admittance fee and all the details.

As far as upcoming events, I got information that ICE Entertainment will be hosting a “Howard University Homecoming Pre-Miami Carnival Jump Off” fete.  Taking place on Friday, September 30th at the T&T Clubhouse on Georgia Ave., in WDC.  Check out our “September Events” page for details.

Finally,  I was also informed this week of an upcoming fundraiser from the PanMasters Steel Orchestra camp, actually it is being held by Lennard Jack of Pan Masters and Ometha together with PanMasters Steel Orchestra itself.  This will take place on October 2, 2005 and it will be dedicated to Lennard Jack’s son Osaze who has been hospitalized for five months, and is holding on for his life.  I was told to inform you that all percussionists are welcomed!  Therefore, feel free to bring your drums, iron, shack shacks, cowbells, rhythm sticks, or anything to join in on the Rhythm Session Circle.  If anyone would like to do some vending, arts and crafts, jewelry etc. please contact Pan Masters  www.panmasters.com Vending at this event is $50.

To all who have suffered, endured and lost everything because of Hurricane Katrina and Hurricane Rita, our prayers go out to you.  Try and be strong...things will get better soon!!!

Talk To You Soon and have a safe and enjoyable weekend!!!
